Cellulite
Yes. Imagine for a moment that you have an empty fruit bag that is a firm plastic with lots of holes in it. In this example, the firm plastic bag with holes will represent distorted fascia. Imagine that you are pressing it down and around the most fatty area of the body. What happens? The fatty tissue puckers up through. When the fascia becomes distorted, it pulls the skin tight and down, just like the plastic bag did and it leaves you with unsightly dents and dimples. Anyone of any age, size, fitness level, or body type can have smooth skin if they have healthy fascia.
Muscle & Joint Pain
Yes. So much pain, tightness, and discomfort is unnecessarily caused by distorted fascia. Distortions in fascia can pull, torque, and compress the body into misalignment. Studies show that fascia tension in one structure — such as the knee — can cause tension or issues in adjacent structures, such as the hip or ankle. Some common conditions you may have heard of like Plantar Fasciitis, IT Band Syndrome, and frozen shoulder are all attributed to distortions in your fascia.
Just as muscles can get knots and become painful and limiting, the fascia can experience a similar circumstance. The same situation that caused the muscles to become knotted in the first place can also cause the fascia to become distorted. When you know that fascia wraps around each muscle, you can see that treating just a troubled muscle group will not fix the distorted fascia, as it requires some different techniques to address it effectively.
The list is quite lengthy of things that Fasciablasting might be helpful for but we’ll just cover a few of the basics here.
Feel free to reach out and ask our team about your individual health concerns and we’ll do our best to let you know if our treatments may be helpful!
And many more!
Fascia is a web of connective tissue formed in tiny bands that wraps around all of the internal parts of the body from head to toe and connects it all together. Your fascia provides a framework that helps support and protect individual muscle groups, organs, and the entire body as a whole. For those of you who are visual learners, you can imagine your skin is like the rind of an orange. So, if your skin is the outer layer of the orange peel, the thicker, white, fibrous layer that lies almost immediately beneath the peel would be your fascia. Just as that thicker layer completely surrounds the inside of the orange, the same holds true to your fascia.
We all have a layer of fascia directly beneath the skin that completely envelopes the body, giving another protective barrier between the skin and the deeper soft tissue. From there, many additional layers of fascia exist to protect and connect the entire body!
Although a regular type of massage can be helpful, you need heat to prep the tissue to soften the bands of fascia and specific tools and treatments to gently break up those adhesions. Then the fascia will let go of the choke hold that it has on your muscles, nerves and blood supply which will finally allow an injured area to heal properly. It will also loosen up around the fatty tissue and your skin can smooth out, decreasing and possibly eliminating the appearance of cellulite altogether.
The FasciaBlaster® is the only device on the market proving to break through fascia, the body’s connective tissue, that can cause unsightly cellulite as well as restrict blood flow and the nerves. Fasciablasting, made popular by guru Ashley Black, can “lessen the look of cellulite, break down fat cells, reduce pain, improve muscle access and performance, and accelerate muscle recovery.”
Here at Feelgood Fascia, we put the Fasciablaster to work and address those fascial adhesions like nothing else can! First we start you off with an infrared sauna session to warm and prep the tissue. The heat helps the fascia to soften and relax which allows for a feel-good treatment of breaking through those fascial adhesions. Fasciablasting should not be a painful experience.
We consider blasting for cellulite reduction and pain relief to be a journey, not a sprint. Results can be seen and felt immediately, and long-term permanent changes can begin to take shape with multiple sessions over the course of 30-60 days.
Consistency with Fasciablasting is important. Just like exercise and eating right, if you aren’t keeping up with treatments in the initial stages, your body will rapidly return to its former condition. We recommend that you purchase a Fasciablaster for use at home to compliment the work that we do so that you may rapidly progress! This is not to say that once you stop treatments you will automatically regress. But initially, if the full fascial correction has not been made, then the body is at risk to revert back to where it was prior.
FasciaBlasting is not right for the following individuals:
The way we perform Fasciablasting is a topical treatment only. We are not working the muscles directly but by releasing the tight Fascia, an indirect benefit is muscle relief! We do not have to work the muscles to get this benefit. Our focus is 100% on the skin and superficial layers of Fascia.
We recommend seeing a massage therapist for deep tissue and trigger point work, as we do not do those things in our services.
Fasciablasting is light, quick work with repetitive back and forth brushing motions. It is uncommon to be painful but is sometimes tender. If you experience tenderness or pain, let your bodyworker know immediately so that they can adjust the pressure.
This is NOT a ‘no pain, no gain’ scenario. The Fascia responds better when we aren’t inflicting pain beyond a 1 to 4 on the 1 to 10 pain scale.
Please help us, help you, by connecting with your bodyworker throughout your session about any tender areas.
Hydrate well 24-48 hours prior so you’re ready to hit the sauna! If you are able to exercise beforehand to warm your muscles internally, that will lead to even quicker results! Don’t know much about infrared saunas? They are a part of 99% of our Fasciablasting appointments so it’s good to know how awesome and important they are to what we do! The licenses we hire to perform this work and their differences:
It is imperative to know that regardless of which staff you select to perform your service, each employee receives the exact same training for our protocols.
Massage Therapist:
Legally they can treat for pain relief.
They cannot treat for the purpose of skin improvements.
Master Esthetician:
Legally they can treat for skin improvements like cellulite, loose skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.
They cannot treat pain.
Our Fasciablasting treatments and protocols help with both pain relief and skin conditions, so you can see the quandary we’ve had in working out the kinks with which licenses can legally perform what services!
After working with the state to clearly outline how to move forward with this incredible new service that Feelgood Fascia has been pioneering the last few years, and helping thousands in our community, this is how we are able to proceed:
The service and protocols remain the exact same regardless of which license performs Fasciablasting BUT massage therapists cannot officially “treat” clients for skin conditions and Master Estheticians cannot officially “treat” clients for pain relief.
Neither license can talk to clients about treating their personal and particular condition before, during, or after the service if it is out of their scope of practice.
This is a service where a blended license would be wonderful to have created in the future so that we don’t all have to participate in the mental gymnastics it takes to get people the help they came in for.
We appreciate your understanding and keeping our staff safely operating within their scope of practice.
